Frequently Asked Questions
- Who is Dr. Kaiser and why is he doing this?

Dr. Kaiser is an Optometrist that practices in Del Rio, Texas. He owns Kaiser Eye Care and House Call Eye Care. He started this website to give new writers more exposure and readers a source of income. Times are tough and this is a simple way to supplement one's income. - I'm a writer interested in submitting a story. How will I get paid?
Once a month, the forum of four executives come to a decision on which three stories will be in the next issue. We will pay you by check or by Paypal. You will be asked to sign a contract that basically states you have rights to the story you are submitting. You will retain rights, even after it is published in "Short Story of the Month". - How does this affiliate program work? Is this some pyramid scheme?
This is not a pyramid scheme. Think of putting a link for Amazon or Target on your website. They pay you a percentage for advertising for them. This is the same concept. This program works by paying you to find new readers. You are paid $4 for every new subscription you find…MONTHLY. The remaining $3.95 goes to Short Story of the Month for overhead fees. The $4 goes directly to your Paypal account MONTHLY. Short Story of the Month does not touch this money. There are many types of programs on the internet that pay you on a monthly basis, but the administrator collects this money and distributes it themselves. This can lead to dishonesty and pure theft. Short Story of the Month is a legitimate source of income. Direct payment to you is the most legitimate way of doing online business that we could figure out. - I am a writer that wants to submit a story. How can I be sure that I will get full credit for my story?
You will get full credit for your story. We will ask you for a brief autobiography so the readers know who you are and what you do, etc. - $100 seems like a lot for a short story. Why are you paying so much? Why don't you pay by word?
This is a simple program. We are not a publishing house, so we like the idea of a flat fee for your creation. Not all stories are accepted and we appreciate all your efforts, so if you do write an accepted story we like to reward you.
The idea of paying per word is rather vague and could be, and probably is, abused. We think of every story as an entity. Some entities are taller some are shorter, but that doesn't make them less interesting. Why sift through 3000 words of garbage when you can be thoroughly entertained in 500. - Why are
you charging $7.95 for an Ezine of short stories? There are several
Ezines online that are free. Why should we pay for yours?
While it is true that there are many free online Ezines, how many of those actually benefit you, directly, as a writer or as a reader? Most of these Ezines have no traffic so your work goes undiscovered. Most of these Ezines publish stories that are marginal and not very good. Short Story of the Month pays its writers for excellent, interesting stories that are thoroughly scrutinized by four totally different individuals, with different backgrounds. In other words, we are normal people who like to read. The majority of any writer's fans are normal people, with diverse backgrounds. The free Ezines online are usually a collection of writers "beating the hell" out of each other. This is not an insult, just an observation. Short Story of the Month strives to create a comfortable, enjoyable experience for all involved. Plus that $7.95 is spread among the readers and writers. What free Ezine offers you the ability to enhance your income? - How will the yearly
"Best Of" collection be distributed? How much can a writer expect to
gain for being included in this collection?
The "Best Of" edition will be a printed version that will be available to all members of Short Story of the Month as well as other individuals that will be found through advertising means. A story chosen for this edition can expect at least an extra $100, if not more, depending on the success of the program and other factors. The more exposure we get, the greater the reward. - Okay, how do I sign up?
Click on the "Click here if you are interested" link. You will be directed through a series of instructions to pay for your first issue, set up your subscription, obtain your affiliate webpage and what to do next. - Can I cancel my subscription at any time?
Yes you can. Just give us one week notice. There are no refunds for issues already received. - What type of genre can I submit?
At this time we are looking for every genre. In the future we may have multiple types of Ezines that are genre specific, but not at this time. This actually adds to the experience, because every edition will have its own flavor. - Do I need a Paypal account to be an affiliate?
Yes you do. Paypal is the only processor we are using. You can set up the subscription to bill your credit card. This works like a charm. There is no charge to obtain a Paypal account or to set up your subscription. You will also need this account to collect your payments from the new affiliates you find. - How do I advertise?
We have a complete advertising blog in the back office (Library). Things are spelled out completely for you there. - How will my monthly edition be sent to me?
The monthly edition will be sent to your email address, after your payment is collected. - How much money can I make by joining this affiliate program? Will I get rich?
You can make as much money as you want. $4 per affiliate signed up. If you have a list of 1000 people that is $4000 a month. Not exactly rich but doing very well. This is not a get rich quick scheme. You will need to work to earn money.
A good goal would be to pay for your monthly subscription first, then work upwards. - Is this program open to anyone, in any country?
Yes it is. There are no restrictions, at this time. You must be able to obtain a Paypal account, however. - How will my affiliate website work?
Your affiliate website will be encoded with your Paypal info and your specialized link. This will be unique to you. It will not work if you cancel your subscription.
